Pallet Wall

We were unable to use a room at church for two reasons…. 1) The floor was asbestos tile and 2) It had a very odd wall that was open to a neighboring storage room. The first solution was to carpet the floor and use a sealed pad to shut off the asbestos dust and the second was to make the wall shown above. I used dry brushed and wiped milk paint to go with the freshly painted blue theme colors of the remodeled room. I think it turned out quite well and all of the materials are salvaged so the church benefits for the cost of some milk paint, some lacquer and a couple of brushes. This was a lot of work! Tearing down pallets and ripping the best pieces to two widths and then hand fitting in quite a few places, but it was also a lot of fun!

Really nice, I’m impressed! I did some pallet-ripping a few years ago, just for firewood, it was awful!

Yeah… Not sure Pallets are worth the effort for firewood… at least not in my area where firewood is pretty much free if you have a chainsaw. Yet I think they are worth the effort for woodworking as a huge percentage are hardwood (Most of that wall is oak and the usual “mystery” hardwood) and yield some really nice figure.
