A box I built for one of my Sgt’s who recently left the marine corps. I got the overall design idea from Mottom, but should have looked at his project again to refresh my memory. I used a much heavier curve than he did which caused me great pain and sorrow when I tried using 1/4” lexan for the glass. After many wasted hours, and a few wasted sheets of lexan.. I went with 1/8” The box itself is curly maple with 4 layers of stain sanded in between each and coated with wipe on poly. Being an airframes shop the glass is attached with our ubiquitous 3/8” bolts and safety wired in proper military fashion. there’s also a few 9mm bullets “lodged” into the glass to make light of issue he had with his pistol shortly before getting out. It’s never too soon to make fun of friends about bad situations! I hope he liked it as much as I liked making it.
