I made this chessboard out of Walnut, Southern Birch, and Cherry. I used General Finishes Gel-Urethane to finish it with 2 coats of Bees Oil. I sanded it with 320 and 600 grit sand paper between coats to get a smooth finish.

I saw this chessboard on Woodworking For Mere Mortals. Steve Ramsey did a video on how to make it.
