My mother had ask me to build her a shelf that she could also hang and display some of her quilts. This is the design that we came up with. The shelf is hung on a wall with the garage on the other side. This wall created a problem in the winter, it transferred the cold from the outside to her back as she was sitting at her sewing table. The quilts hung on it will serve to block some of the of the cold air. The shelf is 6ft long and 8in wide. Solid quarter sawn white oak and finished using Jeff Jewitt’s mission oak finish sample 1, similar to Stickley’s Fayetteville.
And yes my mother made that quilt, hand quilted.
