As you can see, my son was quite excited to get his table as I’ve been working on it for quite some time. The plans included four leaves that I haven’t built yet, but extend the table to over 7’.
Normally, I design/build things like this on my own, but decided to get a plan this time, but made several modifications like the use of pocket screws rather than cutting mortise/tenons for joining the pieces together. It is yet unfinished; however, I plan on just a coat of poly to keep the nice red oak color and texture present.
It was fun and rewarding to do – just took forever and was difficult to make sure all pieces fit together in order for the corners to match up perfectly. If I make another one – will skip the miters in favor of a butt joint or even dovetails (got a nice Rockler jig) to bring it all together.

I appreciate how you said you would do things different. I feel like this after every project I make. Generally I realize that whatever I did just didn’t work as planned or wasn’t worth the trouble (or both).
Thanks for the pics.
