This is the proto type of a cabinet that I want to build from cherry instead of box store pine. It turned out pretty well , I did have to add a wide drawer after I built it because my wife wanted somewhere else to put the silverware. Getting the glued up side panels flat was a challenge, but I discovered that a regular thin cabinet scraper used in a #80 Stanley scraper plane works really well. There’s more flex in the thin steel and it gives you a better chamber to the blade (less gouges and scraper lines). I think I paid more for the knobs to match the rest of the hardware in the kitchen than I did for the boards for the cabinet. I stained it with Ebony minwax stain because she wanted it darker than the other stuff in the kitchen. Both my daughters-in-law, say they want it so if or when I make the cherry one, I won’t have to make a tool cabinet out of it.
