Hello fellow LJ’ers

I documented this build on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/HrJe7ZItkf4

On this weeks project I decided to cover my upper cabinet with some doors. Not only is this to gain more wall storage back with the kaizen foam, but it will also make my videos look cleaner.

I used 3/4” oak hardwood, 1/4” hardboard for the panel, 3/4” hardwood for the perimeter of the kaizen foam, and a 1.5” thick piece of kaizen foam.

The doors were made with a cope and stick router bit set at the router table. I used Rockler’s setup blocks to make this process easy. It was the first time using a cope and stick set and I tell you what, the setup block is well worth it.

Please let me know what you think below, do you like the kaizen foam feature? I can tell you, I absolutely love it!

I do like the kaizen foam… how many hinges did you put on the doors?

I used two hinges, I may add a third one due to the extra weight that maybe on the door when I fill the kaizen foam up. Depending on how much those items weigh. Thanks for watching!

Ya, I agree. They might fail over time. Great build.

Interesting on the hinges. I like how you wrapped the foam in a support piece. How well does the foam stay in there?

It is just squished in there now. As I develop a set of tools that will go in there. I will cut out spots for those tools then use spray adhesive to hold the foam to the door.

Oh and I think the stain will get darker over time.
