This stuff we tend to make with things just happens to be the stuff we cherish the most as woodworkers. They are our prize for our effort. Is it our top prize? No, that would be the knowledge we gained along the way. To learn how to manipulate things into stuff is very challenging and takes a lifetime to master. We only get better as we move forward, so long as we care to do so. If we do not love the things we work with our stuff will only become mediocre.
This project is the completion of my blog of things with rings. The rings of things have been manipulated, added, adhered to the other things to become the stuff you see here. This is my stuff, and for a price, can become your stuff. As always I welcome constructive criticism, positive or negative.

It’s CRAP!!! LOL J/k
It far exceeds my ability as a rank noob…. I love the joinery the inlay is very cool kinda abstract for me but still I find myself liking it….. and putting the learning of inlay on my LONG list of need to learn before I can really call myself a woodworker.
What wood did you use for the carcase of the box I like the side grain alot and how did you finish it… I guess I need to read the blog huh…. sorry little out of it with the pain meds for the strained back…..
Thanks for sharing the insperation for use noobs out here….....

Thank you everyone. Hrolfr, the box is lacewood, top is maple, handle is bubinga, line and hinge spacer is ebony, 1 bubinga ring, 1 ribon mahogany ring, 1 yellow heart, and 1 walnut burl. The box is stained with a Bartly’s pennsylvania cherry gel stain. Then I completed with wipe on poly. Sorry the blog doesn’t have anything but my nonsense in it. LOL.

Cool design. Fun to look at. I really like the small cross piece at the end of the straight line. Nice touch.
The circles are cool. They would look good in all sorts of patterns.
Great project!

Very kewl.
Please tell me about the hinge… what is and where is the ebony “hinge spacer”? What are the steps for making and utilizing that kind of hinge? Can you point me to a reference for it?
Thanks
