I got this idea and process here on LJ, but do not have the link to the author, so thank you in advance.
Stems from actual rose bush, the petals planes from softwood scraps , Pine or Spruce, not certain. One coat of spray on clear.

Those turned out beautiful and the stems add !!!!!Mighty wood showed this a little while ago and I also made some a little different .

They are very beautiful. I think flame box elder would make pretty ones if you could get that kind of shavings from it.
