Hickory front, walnut sides, bottom and lid, trimmed with ipe (eepay). One pic shows a QSWO backer plate that I eventually did away with; ended up screwing my hinges to the lid right into the brick. Modified an old shelf for a newspaper rack underneath which also serves as a lower support for the mailbox so that none of the wood is actually screwed into the wall. Turned out ok.

Learned more by failing on one DIY project than I did after a year of successful joinery usig someone else’s time-tested system.

You have to start somewhere and you are off and running , looks like you will never look back, now you have this gem finished.
