Had a handful of brace drills to stash somewhere. They were just sitting around, getting junk tossed onto them…Had some leftovers from other projects. Some Oak, a pine , a piece of Sycamore, and a square of 1/4” pine plywood. made a couple notched hangers/keepers to hold the braces in place. Angled back to hold them better. Just screws and glue. nothing real fancy. Till is now screwed down to it’s new home. All loaded up.

Still have one more drill, but it can reside in a tool chest, for now. Might just do…

That’s taking care of your tools! Nice job, Bandit. Now, where’s the bit storage? :-)
Thanks for sharing.

Like it Bandit. Did you, or can you, tag this with “brace-till” ? It shows up under plane-till searches, but not brace-till.

I discovered this thread about brace tills, and since that is what I’m working on, I’ll post stuff here instead of the vintage drills thread. Maybe a cross post here and there.

It may not be as difficult as I imagined to get all the features I’ve already talked about over there. To kick start the design process I laid out what I have. Bandit’s till pictured here inspired an idea I will explain.

In every image of a brace till, I’ve noticed a lot of wasted space. I thought if I could somehow overlap the braces in such a way that they laid compactly yet could be easily turned like leaves in a book to fetch the desired one, that could be a huge step in the right direction. These pictures show a preliminary layout. It looks workable to me. There is a lot more to be considered, and some of the big tools like a corner brace I don’t have but would like to design space for the largest type, even though I won’t likely have one. I’m dreaming of a more universal design that could be copied by anyone.

Need to build a box for the augers, as well..

Think I posted this as a Project, too…
Or…a small chest of drawers for under the bench?

All of these..I hang up overhead..

Right about over the bench, where I can reach them…

A 14”, a 12” and a 6” brace, and the eggbeaters. The Breast Drill is in a drawer.

Very nice. Mine are split between my tool chest and the rafters. I would like a dedicated cabinet for the drilling equipment
