When my wife was pregnant she asked for a new bed that would be easier to get in and out of, our previous bed was quite high and she is short. So I began looking at a lot of beds on this site. I found two that I really liked and combined those ideas to come up with the finished product. Most of my inspiration came from a captain’s bed by Brent Livingwell, but I wanted a little more decorative headboard. I really liked the headboard on floating bed by joejt. After I glued all the panels on I intended to cut them off square like I had done on the footboard, but I kind of liked the jagged look that I had “accidentally” produced, so I just left it that way. This is my most ambitious project to date and it was quite a long learning opportunity. In the end my wife got what she wanted it just took a lot longer than she had hoped. Hope you all like it as much as we do.

Now that’s really unique! Like a keyboard almost. I just hope that it’s easy to dismantle at the end of the day, if not when you’re undergoing removals, it may be a little bit of a struggle to get the bed packed away. But of course, you guys just had a baby, so that’s not something you have to think about for a while!

Marcio- I actually designed it so that the headboard and footboard can be removed and the box for the drawers are independent so it breaks down quite nicely. It is however still a monster to move because the headboard is still very heavy
