Well, had a green egg but no fancy table to make it look nice. Was shocked at how much they want for one so just decided to build it myself. Nothing special. Three coats of spar urethane and a few accessories – the beer bottle opener is most important—and we are now good to go!

I’d like to build one of these for a friend. How hot do the sides of the egg get? do you have to worry about clearance between the sides and the wood top?

Nice and simple design by the way. I really like this.

It’s all made out of pine and exterior wood glue. Then exterior urethane. The top and shelf are prefab glue up panels. Would have done my own but got lazy. Some pocket screws. Notched the legs to take the shelf. I have about 3/4 clearance with the top. The exterior of a green egg really does not get that hot or at least not hot enough to burn wood.

Have your say...
