My daughter is heading back to college for her Sophomore year. She has moved out of the dorm into a house and wanted me to make her bed.

She wanted a twin bed with enough height underneath to hide her storage boxes and school binders. And she wanted a padded headboard.

The bed is 13” from floor to the bottom of the rails.

Construction is spruce 2×4’s for the ends, 2×6 rails. 1×3 slates. Headboard on foot was left over from another project around the house.

First three pictures are after she moved in this weekend. The last is after I finished construction, before she painted it and covered the headboard

Good job, Dad! And good idea to make it tall enough to fit the milk crates under it. That’s a bunch of extra storage space that is usually lost.
