Padauk Watch Case

I have a box full of Padauk pieces about 10” long and 1 1/2” square. I took two of them and laminated them together in order to make a small box.

I really didn’t intend to make a “watch box” but function followed form on this one. When I got done it looked like it was just about perfect to place a watch or two in.

The overall size of this one is 9” wide, 1 1/2 tall, 3” deep. The drawer is flocked with wine fibers and the pull is a blued steel. Three coats of thinned poly gave it a great shine. I think that even as the Padauk browns it will be a great piece.

Flaws: I should have taken a little more time matching the pieces. As you can see there is a distinctive demarcation in color along the top. I thought they would sand down to the same color. I was wrong.

Beautifull box. Great for a watch or 2.

Love the color of that paduk.

Keep it up.

Such a simple idea but well executed and the timber is fantastic. I think a small accent stripe between the two pieces might have over come the slight difference in colour. IMHO

The paudauk looks great. It over shadows any flaws. Nice work.

How old is this box?

Topa. It’s about 2 months old now. It sat around the shop unfinished for a while but I finally grabbed it off the shelf and finished it off.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
