Ambrosia Maple Bonker, about 3” wide at the barrel, and about 7” long overall. Nothing fancy, just a fun piece turned on the lathe from a piece I picked up on the street near my Lodge last week.
The branch was only about 4 or 5” wide at the base. I simply trimmed off a useful length and went to town. this is what I came up with.

I used this as a ‘what does that tool really do’ excercise… everything from a standard spindle gouge, to a pair of bowl gouges, a parting tool and another spindle gouge with a relatively thin and shallow flute on it.

and lots of nice wet shavings!

Nice Bonker!
These come in very handy for wailing the tar out of just about anything! I keep mine at the lathe to set the drive spur and dispatching the occasional spider.
Isn’t turning wet wood a lot of fun
?!

Nice bonker but you need to invest a little in a better looking model if you want to sell any! :)
I’m sure it will come in handy in a number of ways. Every time I turn around I see “turned” projects. I may have to break down and buy a lathe.
Well done.

Things you never thought you’d ever say…”Nice bonker!” I fear that I may need to develop another addiction, with all of the turned pieces I see on the site. Maybe I can convice the wife, “Honey…I can use it to dispatch the occasional spider!”

Moai just a simple turned thing that evolved into a shop tool.

I guess you could “set” stone with it too.

I thought about it as a gavel for my lodge, but decided there was a much more common one which I should build instead.

That’s a nice bonker you’ve got there, Bro…on gavels, I’ve got a plan for one that looks like a beehive that I need to complete for my trip East next year.
