Here is another 2” x 2” x 2” Japanese 12 step puzzle box made from oak with additional secret compartment on the bottom. Third picture shows “key grove”, by making more turns it’s quite easy to increase steps of the puzzle. I used same methods as here Two sides are 1/4” thick. All others are glued in opposite direction 1/8” thick (was quite a waste to use hand planer to make 1/8 from 1/4). Finished with Clapham’s beeswax polish.

nice one – thanks for posting the different shots of it -I was always curious how those work, but with so many things going on never went as far as trying to find plans and explanations – I figured my ‘to-do’ list is already too long – and if I’ll know how to make these, it’ll just postpone everything else on the list… lol
very cool indeed!

Great box. I love these things. I can’t seem to find any good plans. I also really like the puzzles like the one Junji posted last week..

Cool box. Are plans for these easy to find? I would love to try one.

Wow, wow, and wow! I’m sure it would be as frustrating as he## but lots of fun to figure out.
Well done!

Very nicely done! I’d love to do this type of thing – but I don’t have enough patience…yet. I’m working on it.
