My son’s first home purchase was an older house that was housing for Canada’s military. Well built not fancy but functional. Someone had planted a maple tree in the back yard which in time became the framework for a children’s treehouse. When my son moved in the tree had seen better years so he had it cut down and I was the beneficiary of some of the wood. This boot came from this wood.
It was severely gnarled and the inner grain shows it’s age.
When cutting out the boot blank, I wanted to show all the characteristics that made the tree old just like the ‘boot’ carver. So I give you the Old Curmudgeon!

Enjoy!

Gr8 story. It’s always nice having something made from a tree that the kids have grown up with.

It’s a beautiful accent for a garden.
