Little Free Library – “In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share”

A client asked me to make one of these for their apartment complex. It will sit out front of the building and people can take a book, leave a book or just admire the idea of a free library system.

Constructed from plywood, MDF, Pine and mini Cedar shakes. 4 coats of Polyurethane on the shakes and 4 coats of outdoor paint to (try to) make it look like a schoolhouse. They didn’t want a bell tower on it though.

Lexan has taken the place of the windows and door. Brass hinges and knob finish off the look. Weather stripping applied to try to keep the weather and buggies out. I had to use a rare Earth magnet to keep the door closed.

Hope you enjoy…..

This turned out great. I really like to colors, the mini cedar shakes and the little clock. Very nicely done.

I haven’t run into this before. It sounds like a great idea and you did a nice job on it.
