I made this dragon puzzle as a gift and then made the wooden box for it with a overlay of the puzzle on top.
The dragon puzzle is made from quarter sawn Sycamore and has great grain. It was cut on a scroll saw, sanded with a sanding mop and finished with Danish Oil and then waxed and buffed. The design is from a book by Judy Peterson
The wooden box has sides of 1/2’ quarter sawn Sycamore. The corners are mitered with with walnut splines. The latch and hinges were made from 3/8” Walnut using the Hingecrafter from Incra. I cut the hinge fingers with a box joint jig I made on a router table. I have made some on my own hinges with out the Hingecrafter but found drilling the long thing hinge pin holes was extremely difficult and the Hingecrafter made it much easier. The box was finished with white shellac.
