Very Nice! I like the clean design where you just let the wood speak for it’s self.

Amazing piece!
I think is a very clever design, the box doesn’t steal the show, that is the natural beauty of that figured walnut…...in one word: wow!

Excellent box and ditto on the design, it really lets the wood speak for itself. Well done.

Is that a veneered top? If not, did you account for expansion on the lid? I don’t see a gap anywhere…..

JC, maple and walnut are very similar as far as expansion goes. its been in the house for a few weeks now with no issues. I did not allow for it so time will tell. I also didnt finish the inside of the box so that the wood can breath. if it lasts long enough I may make a tray for the inside to make compartments. I’ve made several boxes with this design and so for have only had issues with one made with pecan. it was left in an attic for some time and blew apart! hehe the customer couldnt understand why! :-]

I think the fact that the maple is fairly plain is a good thing, because it just emphasizes how spectacular that walnut is. Great job!
