[Legebla ankaĆ en Esperanto]

After hearing my daughter complain about her thumb hurting from a session of summer assignment reading, I went down to the shop and came up with this thumb saver. I found some images of such things and adapted it to my liking. The wood is oak that I found along the road. Someone had broken up a piece of furniture and left it for the trash. As soon as I recognized the pieces as oak, I grabbed them all up. The piece is finished with spray lacquer.

[Third Photo]: Is this right? ;-)

I’ve seen a few on LJ. Mine is only different in that the ‘wings’ are rounded off. Still a good gift item for those of us who still read paper books.

Nice thumb saver, Dave! Long ago I got a plastic one (shudder) from a book store. When I got it home I discovered it was too small! Who knew they came in different sizes?! Thanks for listening to your daughter and helping her, and maybe others by sharing here.

They’re also a great use for those small cut-offs of hard woods. I must be making progress because I actually have a few of those now.

I’m not sure how close the size really needs to be. This one has a somewhat large hole. We’ll see if it’s too big or not as it gets used.

Dave, do we share the same sense of humor? If so, we both need help!
