A couple of years ago, a good friend asked if I could build him a party table. He showed me a picture of an octagon with a galvanized tub in the middle. He bought the lumber and some beer and we got to work. My math worked OK and we only had to insert a few extra boards (he called them shims). The resulting table is a pressure-treated piece of work that consumed a gallon of decking screws. the table has survived table dancing, bobbing for apples, and a small fire (using the tub to hold fire so they could grill at the table). In any case, this design is a keeper. p.s. – The bottle-opener is essential to the design, just hang a little bucket under it so dainty barefooted people don’t step on bottle caps!
