My mother-in-law wanted a picnic table for her backyard, the only spec. she gave me was that she wanted it to be smaller (not as long) as a standard picnic table. This is about 5 feet long. Like most things I build, I didn’t make a pattern or have any demensions, I just played in the shop until this was born. All I can tell you is that it is redwood. My mother-in-law was going to paint it, but liked the look of it too well she has left it. I did suggest she at least varnish it, but I don’t think she has.

So when are you coming here to build mine? Only kidding…nice job Mel!! My house is sided with solid redwood…we use a redwood stain on it every two years. I hope she varnishes it…you may have to check up on it. Hugs..Dannie

I really like it. I think your m-i-l was right about the length. When these things are full size they are so heavy. This will still easily seat 6 kids or 4 adults comfortably.

Lovely picnic table. The size is correct and the design is simple.

Brand new to Lumberjocks. What a nice looking picnic table. Are there plans available for this? Probably could build from the pictures.
