I made this jigsaw for a 3 year old, the other one I made similar to this did well for the last child I made it for. I did the main base with 1/2” oak, printed out a picture onto paper and then used spray adhesive to stick it onto the wood. I covered it a few times with a spray on clear coat varnish and then used masking tape to put some 1/4” ply onto the front to protect it as I cut it up. One mistake I made here is that the scroll saw heats up the finish a little which makes it stick to the ply. I discovered after doing a few bits, that what I need to do was put some paste wax onto the ply so it didn’t stick to anything. After that it all worked quite nicely. The outside is just mdf painted blue.

Cool!
I am just getting ready to make a jig saw puzzle for the neighbor’s child. Nothing as sophisticated as your- just a simple teddy bear. Thanks for the MDF idea!
