I made this out of English Elm which is a hard wood. Because of it’s hardness it made the separation of the two cubes a slow process.
I used a 40mm forstner bit on the drill press to cut the holes.
I ground off the tip of the forstner to avoid a tell tale centre point hole.
This process requires two forstner bits, one to start the hole and the ground off one to finish it.
A dremmel came in handy to separate the cubes. Proper cutters for the job would have helped which I have since ordered on Ebay.
Finished with wipe on poly.
