One of the guys at work asked me to build him a box so he could “lock his money “in. I dared not ask why and obliged the client with not only a lockable box but a false bottom for added safety. I think his robbers are his teenage kids so I am sure they will never figure it out (LOL). Made out of Mahogany, Oak and poplar it is finished with shellac and wax ( a new finishing schedule for me and I like it!) I will deliver it on Monday and hope he likes it.
I knew that the clients budget was limited for this project and opted to not use “Brusso hardware” which would have been prohibitive for him.
Thanks to all of you who are providing me with valuable photographic tips, some of you may noticed I have removed the 2003 date stamp from these pictures.

I like the idea of false bottom and also the rounded over corners’ edge.

This is a nice looking box, Jacques. The addition of a false bottom was a thoughtful idea. I am not sure if it will help with the “disappearance of money” with teenagers around but it is a nice idea. :)
Adding the different linings was a good idea as well. It adds visual interest to the box.

Very nice box. Contrasting liners makes it stand out. Lve the keys and inset lid.
Keep it up.
