A friend from California picked up a great chunk of redwood burl, brought it over and we did a “tag team” turning on it. The wood was a treat to work with; the wood just peeled like it was coming off a piece of fruit. I was initially intimidated to work with such a valuable piece of wood as I’m a newbie turner (and this was my friend’s first turning), but it was really an easy turn.

What a beautiful chunk of wood that this came out of. Nice work.

That is one nice bowl too. Wish more of that stuff would grow on trees. I know of only one burl forest. Posted pictures awhile back.
