Men’s Valet Box, can be used as a ladies jewelry box as well, It was a custom order.

The inner core of this box is Alder and is wrapped in Nagol, with Spalted Hackberry used for the drawer pulls the corner splines, the lid and the hinges, the top tray under the lid is also made from Nogal, another one of my bandsaw box traditional joined box combo hybrids.

The Spalted Hackberry used for this box I had cut via chainsaw, it was already spalted and laying on the ground from our local family cemetery

Under the lid offers two open trays and one lift out tray, two very large drawers, a small coin tray and a hidden drawer, by pulling on the large drawer on the left and turning it so you’re facing the back of the drawer reveals the hidden drawer which is held in place by a magnet, there is a very large secret compartment with a false bottom door located on top under the lid of the box under a lift off false bottom door, the small coin tray is the secret to opening the false bottom door on top, by pulling out the tray on top and setting it aside then strategically placing the small tray from the drawer on top of the false door located on top of the box lining up the magnets it latches onto the door then by lifting the tray out it also lifts the false bottom door revealing the hidden compartment, once again this is my own design and creation a one of a kind, all drawers are lined with dark brown felt.

The hidden compartment can be used to hide a great many items and for the gun enthusiast the hidden compartment can be used to hide and conceal a lot of the pocket and compact size pistols, the measurements for the compartment is 7” front to back, 5 3/4” side to side and 2” deep, It will comfortably house the Smith and Wesson M&P shield 9MM and 40.cal pistol along with a small box of defense ammo and extra magazine as demonstrated in the pictures.

The Box measures 13 ” long 8” high x 8 1/2” wide, the hidden compartment measures 7” x 5 3/4” x 2” It is Finished in a single coat of Tung oil and several coats of my on mix of satin wipe on poly and a final coat of paste wax, I used dark brown flocking fibers for the drawers and hidden compartment cavity.

Randy,

I like how you have continued to expand on your original idea, and your getting really good at balance and movement in your boxes.

I just had a thought. Placing it against a balanced but contrasting draped satiny material? My wife calls them Jewel colors.

Your boxes/valets are so refined Randy. Really like the wood combos in this one.
