I recently completed this mahogany blanket chest. It is the first project of this size I have attempted, and I think it came out pretty well. My wife, for whom I made it, seems pleased and not a little surprised. The chest was built during a class I took at Annapolis Woodworks. Taking the class helped me to overcome my trepidations about tackling something this large. As a novice woodworker, I started taking wood turning courses there in 2013, so I was pretty confident I would get the instruction I needed. Also, since I mostly do wood turning, I do not have some of the tools (e.g., table saw, jointer, and planner) to do this kind of project at home. I have not decided what my next furniture making project will be, and for now I plan to concentrate on improving as a wood turner.
