I made this corner shelf for my wife. She graduated from the University of Michigan so everything is Michigan with her. Our bathroom is covered with Michigan paraphernalia. Many of those things I made for her and this just adds to the mix. I go the idea while I was looking at the bottle of wine I picked up for her with Bo Schembechler’s picture on the label. I wasn’t sure how to display it until it hit me.
The shelf itself is made of Pine and as you can see, the “M” is a corner emblem which made it difficult to make. It took a few try’s to get it right, but it all turned out well in the end. The shelf measures about 15” tall and each side is about 4” wide. I have a wall hanger on the back of each side to keep it straight. besides the blue paint, I have several coats of lacquer on it as well.
Bo and the bottle of wine sit’s in the corner with distinction now.
