Our daughter and granddaughter are visiting with us for the week, and Gracie told us she is “too old for dolls” ... but it turns out that she has a couple of those 18” dolls (Like the American Girl series) that she calls “Her girls” :-)

So looking thru my scrap pile I decided to make her a bed for “The girls” ... Gotta remember to NOT refer to them as dolls. LOL
.
.

The 1X2” pine on the left will be the frame and the 1” oak on the right will be the legs.
.

.
.
Glued and clamped to dry. The headboard is a piece of luan
.

.
.
Had some mahogany stain in the cabinet. Polyshades, UGH that stuff is crap. Why did I ever buy THAT stuff?
.

.
.
Some white paint and a bit of pink to finish it up.
.

.
.
.
She likes it and that’s what makes Grampy happy !

Oh, it’s 19” long and 10” wide. Thanks for looking. Comments are welcomed

Hard to remember all the proper terminology, isn’t it, Joe?! Nicely built Girl’s bed. Thanks for sharing.

Great piece of craftsmanship on the hurry! Glad she is pleased. As a matter of fact I think Polyshades has been taken off the market for that simple reason. At least my Lowe’s won’t stock it because of complaints. I tried Pecan and agree it was CRAP!

Thanks all.
Well we had a little mishap this morning. Gracie picked the bed up and stumbled, the bed hit the floor and the headboard/legs popped off. She was crying as if somebody had shot her dog.
I took it to the shop and put some corner braces on it and added a “footboard so as to help protect the legs at that end to. Repainted it and am waiting for it to dry to give it back to her.

Ok then. The fix is in, and it is much stronger this time. Basically I went from this…
.

.
.
To this .
.

.
.
I added corner blocks to all 4 corners, added a footboard to strengthen the legs at the foot, and also I added a skirt panel under the headboard just to have somewhere to add a bit more glue and strength.
.

.

.
.
Gracie promises to be more careful with it from now on. She’s happy, and so am I

That’s it! Now she can also nap with the girls. That’s strong joinery.
