Project Information

Two of my first projects that were presents for Xmas 2014. Though not perfect in every way they were greatly appreciated that morning. The first one is cherry with a padouk base and lid insert for the daughter. For the second one I wanted to make it manly for the SIL so oak with box joints, black felt liner and dark pewter handle and feet. Both finished with four coats of Tung oil and rubbed with 0000 steel wool.

Since these I've come to understand the thought process of projects more and more. From the choise of woods to joinery skills to finishing. It's been a fun ride full of joyment to total frustration (think firewood) and one ride I hope to continue. I have a few more projects, such as coffee and end tables, that I hope to get up soon.

Thanks for looking, Vince

I like the designs and the choice of colors. There is just something about well made boxes!

Well done. I find it interesting how I'm getting better at accepting my mistakes. Projects are rarely perfect, but 1000x better than the recipient could ever build and, as you pointed out, quite appreciated.

Well done.
