I really had no need for a bottle opener, but it was a fun way to try out my new oscillating spindle sander. I glued up some spalted maple and purpleheart and went to shaping it…no pattern….just whatever seemed right. I started with a bandsaw then went to the sander. Final sanding by hand with 400. I used a quarter simply because I could not find a suitable washer in my collection. The rare earth magnet catches the caps quite well. The finish is one coat of tung oil, two coats of wipe on poly (1/2 poly and 1/2 mineral spirits) and finally a coat of paste wax. Light sanding between all coats. There are plenty of mistakes for sure…but I am not going to tell you what they are…you can find them. My son is already enjoying its usefulness.

Thanks for looking. I welcome suggestions for improvements.

Great idea. I know guys that should carry a small one in their pocket instead of using the edge of a table or latch on the car door frame

Looks great, its making me thirsty. Great use for the spindle sander, mine has definitely seen its share of bottle openers. I like the choice of wood.

You don’t go to any party without this. Incredible design and finish touch.
