This is a very simple kitchen top in which sanding is the key part and in which I just tried to make the best use of a beautiful wood.
The wood is Platysmiscium pinnatum commercially known as Granadillo, Cristobal, Coyote, Macawood, or Amazon Rosewood. This is a hard tropical wood, but is a pleasure to work with because of the finish you can get.
I have had this lumber for over 20 years so is really dry. I started sanding with grid 60 and ended using grid 340. I loved sanding so I really took my time.
Borders were rounded and I tried to follow as much as possible the natural shape. For finish I applied 4 coats of Tung oil.
