Pill Box

Project by MrWoody posted 197 days ago 334 views 1 time favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Here is my second attempt at a turned box and my first attempt at thread chasing on the lathe.
This actually started life as part of a pallet and was intended simply as a practice piece, but my wife has claimed it. The outside threads are not bad, but the inside threads are rough. Need more practice.
It is 1 5/8” in diameter and 1 1/8” high, Hard Maple.

Looks pretty tight to me!

(By the way….. quit using weird foreign money as a size reference. :-) )

Looking good Woody…. A bit of practise and you’ll beat the threads…..

And by the way Charlie..it is only a foreign coin, depending where one is sitting at the time…. Looks just right to me….

Great little box.

Allways love the reclaimed pallets. That is where most of my stuff wood from.

Keep it up.

tomd; The threads were formed using the Sorby thread cutting tools.

Nice litle box. I was wondering about the thread chasing technique too, I’ll check out your link. Thanks.
