New handle for Knew Concepts Saw

I turned this handle for my Knew Concepts saw and used a ferrule I bought from Elkhead Tools www.elkheadtools.com. It is the same one they use on their handles for the Knew Concepts saws. Gary Benson at Elkhead was a big help in getting the ferrule installed. I copied the pattern for the handle off a gents saw handle I really liked. I think the wood is olivewood – got it out of a scrap bin.

Looks a lot nicer than the stock one! How do you like the Saw, thinking about upgrading?

Thanks Andre. The saw itself is wonderful. i know it seems like a lot of money for a fret / coping saw but once you use one it becomes crystal clear. they cut so smooth and true. really a joy to use…especially once you replace the stock handle.

Quite beautiful turning on your part and wonderful wood selection. Will pin type Pegas blades from Tools For Working Wood fit in it? They come highly praised and recommended by coping saw usewers doing dovetails.

Thank you for the kind words

if you are in the market for a new saw, Blue Spruce Tools is about to release a coping saw…tried it out at Handworks recently. very nice.

the Pegas blades are what I have and they are great.

Have your say...
