Walnut/Maple Shelf

Project by Hutch posted 196 days ago 412 views 2 times favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a walnut and soft/pacific maple shelf. The walnut is 3/4” stock and the maple is 1/2” stock. It measures 36”W by 30”H by 3 1/2”D. Hand cut dovetails and the half laps which were cut on my crosscut sled. Two coats of a oil/varnish blend and then two coats of thinned poly (Cabot) wiped on. Thanks for looking.

Very nice shelf.

Great job on the dove tails. Still haven’t tried that myself yet.

Keep up the good work.

The inclusions and dovetails add visual interest to an otherwise plain shelf. Nice job on the finish.

very nice, I love the simplicity of the unit. Although I disagree with Dusty56 I like the dovetails, but I don’t think they are needed to make the piece more interesting, the design does that pretty good.

Thanks for the kind remarks. Ellen, elegant… really, now that’s a first.
