I have been admiring the projects of others here for some time, so I figured it’s time to post some of mine. I found a piece of soft maple that was going to be used as firewood. I took a second look and thought I’ll cut it with the chainsaw and see if it might be used to make a bowl. I had a log that was similar , but was too punky. I roughed out the shape with a chainsaw and started spinning. I kept it a little thicker since , while the wood was not punky, it was soft and I was afraid if it was dropped, it may crack if the walls were too thin. Overall I was happy with the way it turned out. I placed some fruit in it just to give you an idea of the size.

Thank you Joe! How is Georgia? I saw that you recently moved there. Me and my wife are from Pennsylvania and thought Georgia may be a nice place to settle? Tired of Pennsylvania winters…and frequent rain/overcast days through summer.

Lucky find in the firewood pile. You gave this piece of wood a new life. Really nice.
