Man Tray....Woman Tray

His and Her Trays….I have been making quite a number of the ”Man Trays” for sale in a local shop, and was asked why there were no ”Woman Trays.” Without a good answer to that, I felt obligated to make at least one! This pair of matching trays, square for the guy and round for the lady, are made of cherry and feature contrasting veins of walnut and maple. The square is approx. 6 inches across and the round one is about 5 inches. Both are finished with hand rubbed poly and have a 1/4 inch foot that is covered with soft leather.
I guess, if a guy needs a place for his keys, change, wallet, etc., a gal is entitled to a place for her stuff, too.

I also like the veins. They look great.

John, also nice work!

Now a question that is puzzeling me what is the sequence for cutting and inserting the trim (veins)

One has a slight missmatch but the other is lined up perfectly and as much as I tried to determine the sequence to get the correct alignment I was still unsure of just how you have done it. No doubt the lighter one was done first. (I think)
Then the inserts must match each other and the kerf width exactly…?

I will have to go play and see if I can put my mind at rest !!

Very nicely done John.
You really brought out the look of the cherry rather well. Can’t wait to see the next project!
