Eva's Recipe Box

A customer from Kentucky contacted me about creating a personalized Recipe Box for her granddaughter, Eva. She decided on the wood; cherry, and the card size; 4×6. I have done several recipe boxes in the past, but most had been as wedding gifts….hence the linked ring theme on the top of several. Since Eva is only nine, she isn’t in need of linked rings quite yet. In spite of her tender age, I am assured that she is quite the accomplished chef.
The box is made from 1/2 inch cherry, has mitered corners, and measures just over 7×5 inches. It is finished with several coats of hand rubbed poly, hinged with brass hardware, and has piano wire dividers to hold the cards in a vertical position. The name was laser engraved by a local gift shop.

Nice little box, John.
I’m sure Eva will be delighted.

John, nice call on the engraving. It looks great. The wire dividers are unusual and look like they would work well and not take up much inside space. Nice splines and the overall look is super. I might have used wider hinges or maybe a stop hinge. Looks like a fine gift.
