This wine rack came about when my youngest daughter mentioned that they might like some sort of a wine rack for Christmas. Well the hunt began for some sort of a plan. I found this one on the internet, can’t remember now where!!!! All it was was a two-page drawing, half of the pattern on one page and the other half on the other page. It, I think was to be just two pieces of wood standing freely with no connection to each other. I decided that I would add the stretchers between the two. The rack is made out of some Black Walnut that I got from my Dad’s neighbor. He had cut down a walnut tree a couple of years ago and was going to take it to the dump so I rescued it and had it slabbed. The stretchers are made from some hard rock maple that I picked up at a local architectural mill that they were throwing out. Just can’t let some things go to waste. The stretchers are let into the Walnut with a flush cut tennon. The wine bottle in the picture is only half full, was used for cooking, honest!!!!!! Not too fancy but unique.

That’s Awesome, Uncle!! Love the grain of that walnut. Now, either you need to get cooking, more, or finish off that wine…
“just can’t some things go to waste”...Hehehehehe

I was asked to build a wine rack inside of a cabinet a couple of years back, so I spent some hours internet surfing trying to get ideas to use in my own design. I never did see this concept of bottle holder, but I do really like it. Nice work.
