Hairy Oak Man Box

Project by degoose posted 203 days ago 815 views 0 times favorited 23 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Man Box…like a jewelry box but for a man? This one is for you David aka Patron.
A place to empty the pockets… wallet, keys, loose change, tums? and not on the kitchen bench or table lol
Hairy oak…the insert in the lid. I just love the patterns and swirls.. It grows in Western Queensland in the dry inland area. The bark looks like a wet YAK.. I kid you not.!!!! When you cut the slices the hairs fall like in a salon,,
The main box sides and framing are N.G. Rosewood…not as figured as the bandsaw box # 16888
Next post will have the insides.. Spanish cedar lined and purple felt bottom.?

Looks good, Larry.

I like it! I bet it would look good in hairy walnut, or hairy mahogany too. All kidding aside, great box!

Nice one Larry. What are the overall dimensions, or, how much man box is it?

Not literally for David but as an example of the “man box” concept.
Sorry David LOL

What is it about boxes? You’ve just got to love em, especially this one. If we had woods like that in Norway I my life would be complete. I’ve gots lots of knotty pine I’m willing to trade….....

Nicely done. My wife complained about my roving pile of keys, wallet, coins, etc. She requested that I put my box-making skills into creating abox for all that stuff. Interesting how people can have like experiences from halfway around the globe.

Keep on keepin’ on.

Larry: I see you are making good use of your lastest wood purchases.

Man I love that grain. It does make a bold statement.

delightful box

but i must ask about the hairy oak its grain structure is so like the sheoak timber local to Western Australia

is this also from a species of the allocasuarina like ours or is it a different timber
