This is a fire truck bed that I made for my 4.5 year old son. It is based on a commercial plan although I modified the plan significantly. I wanted a bed that could be taken down so its general suprastructure is not glued but reinforced with mortise and loose tenon joinery (yeah…the Domino was involved). I also heavily reinforced it to accomodate my son’s “active lifestyle.” Although this isn’t “fine woodworking” in the strict sense, I found it a very satisfying project to build and he seems to love it.

It may not be “Fine Woodworking” but it brought a huge smile to my face.

nice project, my 5.5 year old would love this bed, and so I am confident to think your son does also. Very cute! My daddy made me a bed one time about the time I was 4 years old….good memory, as will this be for your son.

I can also see it as a lovely play area in the backyard (in case spouses don’t want it in the house) ...
Well done and it sure looks FINE to me!!
