My parents moved into a rental fours years ago and it had no dining room to speak of. They have a huge dining table so they had to put it in storage. They needed a table quick so I went to the lumber store and picked up the pine top, a banister, trim and hemlock for the base. I guess you could say that I assembled it more than built it. I cut the two sides for drop downs since they had limited space at the time, cut the banister to length, put the hemlock over a 2×4 frame, added trim and casters. I built it and stained it the first day, and put several coats of poly the next day.
