Falcon cane #2

Project by mtnwild posted 206 days ago 419 views 1 time favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a combo walking stick, cane. Started out as a cane, but the round part the falcon stands on was too green and moved and separated from the shaft…. Repair, put in corner, move on…... Been wanting to try carving, so with a repair piece, I thought I’d give it a try. The separation did not weaken the handle, really a small crack, still holds full weight. I wrapped the shaft with surgical rubber I have for clamping, traced the outsides, then scribed the pencil line and have been whittlin’ ever since. Now it’s my favorite piece, my son says I have to leave it to him…. I shaped the falcon with a rotary tool, files, sandpaper. Figured Maple, Walnut. The tip is from Rockler. Found two on sale, 10 dollars off each. Glad I did, very cool. Thanks for looking…... Jack…......

Interesting combo of woods and techniques. It’s nice to see some thought put into a design.
