So this is part of a new line of furniture that I have produced called “PHILA” Inspired by the fast growing loft living community here in Philadelphia.
This is an entertainment unit. It’s made from solid walnut except the back and the two dividers. They are walnut veneered ply. Nothing to fancy here. The drawers are solid cedar, no dovetails. I built this piece and the chair and a side table, coffee table and a sofa table in a little under 3 weeks. Plus got a booth ready for the Baltimore fine furnishing show that happened last weekend. So fancy hand cut joinery was out of the question for all these pieces.
The drawer fronts are tiger maple. I’m not a fan of book matching, so the fronts are two different pieces of tiger maple. Instead of using any handles that I thought would ruin the look of the piece, I carved out little dimples for your fingers to fit into and pull. The drawers are on BLUM BLU-MOTION slides, which have the soft close action.

Clean, simple and honest construction. I like how you strip the piece down to just the essential elements.

Saw this when I was at the Baltimore show. Very nice. I never got away from my booth during show hours to try some of the ginger ale :( Heard rave reviews!

John- Yeah the root beer and the ginger ale were a gimmick to try and get people into the booth. But from the reaction that we got from it, it might just become a small side business. LOL
