My daughter wanted an eliptical crib. She had the mattress made and I built the crib around it. I couldn’t find any plans so I designed and built it myself. She seems happy with it. The mattress is adjustable and everything complies with the codes. This is my first grandchild and it was a labor of love. I made a dresser and another piece that will serve as a changing table. This is the first time that I have posted any of my work, hope someone likes it.

Gee, that’s enormous! A baby elephant would be comfortable in that piece of realestate! Or did you really make this for your own demise?
Beautifully done!

Wow while I love the crib the thing that caught my eye was the elliptcal jig for the router,I’ve seen many commercial models but never a shop built one! Being a big fan of shopbuilt machinery and jigs(I build it whenever possible from my shopbuilt wide drum sander and edge sander to the shop built mortiser and CNC router)I would love to know if you dreamt it up or if ther was aplan somewhere.Nice work keep it up.

Ed, this is an absolutely gorgeous crib. I am sure the novelty of cutting all those mortises and tenons wore off rather quickly after the first few but the end result was well worth all the effort that you put into it.
What type of wood did you use for the crib and how did you finish it?
Great first posting. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

What did you finish the crib with?
Again, great job. Keep them coming!

Absolutely beautiful! That’s something to pass on for generations. Make sure you make your mark on it with the year. :-)
Could you post info on the oval jig you used? How does it work? How do you attach it? And what adjustments in position are needed when working around the piece?
