I’ve been wanting to do something like this. My daughter recently moved, and that was the deciding factor. Moving is hectic and seems to take a while to settle in and find out where everything is. I am pleased with this and see others in my mind.
I didn’t take any in-progress pics. The joints were cut on a bandsaw and fitted by hand. I used a router table to cut grooves along the bottom for the plywood, stopped grooves in the long sides. I hand cut a dado for the divider/handle. Next time I’ll do that on the router table. It seems like everything I make tells me how it should have been done. That’s what next time is for.
Walnut. Box is 12” long x 8” wide x 3” tall. Brush on lacquer.
