Ultimate Folding Sawhorse II "Shopdog"

Well, it’s finally redesigned and finished! I call it the “Shopdog”, a craftsman’s best friend. It really is the best folding sawhorse design out there. You can custom make any attachment you wish and they can be interchanged very quickly and tool free. When attachments are locked into place they stay there. As shown in the pictures you can make a miter saw stand easily by using any straight 2×4 at any length. All you have to do is mount your saw on a piece of plywood with a couple of runners and make some basic material supports and you are done. You can mount almost any small woodworking tools such as: a planer, scroll saw, grinder, etc., on the same type of table that the miter is sitting on and you have a interchangable machine support.

My new design makes building this sawhorse a breeze. It takes about an hour to make a pair once you understand all the machine set ups, which are not that difficult. It can all be done with hand tools, but it may take you a little longer. And, it will only take you an afternoon in the shop to create all these attachments shown.

I also incorperated a french cleat on the top cross support, this allows for the shopdog to mount on the wall with ease.

If your kids or grandkids are bored while running around your shop, make them a horse attachment, they will love it. My horse hasn’t left the livingroom since I made it.

thanks for looking… and I have more pictures and attachement options on my webpage.

Real nice idea. A Swiss Army Sawhorse. I can see your imagination is the only limit on this. Thanks for the post.

This is a really nice shop addition. I can see a pair of these in my future when I make my next set of sawhorses. I really enjoy the versatility of these and they are invaluable for saving shop space.

Great design. No more commercial folding saw horses for me, your design has them all beat.

The horse attachment is my favorite. Not to disregard the more shop related ones.

Very, very cool idea. I was just thinking of buying some more sawhorses…but you’ve cured me of that ill. Please tell me you have a sketchup drawing or some plans available. I’d love to know the angles on the cuts.

Thank you for the terrific contribution!
